This is the officially authorized Contributor Page of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. We are a contributor to Find-A-Grave.com for the purpose of adding to and managing a repository for memorials of Union Veterans who are not already managed by other Find-A-Grave contributors. We appreciate and welcome transfers from anyone who desires to place a memorial to a Union Veteran in our care.
We also welcome any biographical information that other contributors might wish to send us concerning the memorials in our care. However, please do not send information that is duplicative of what is already on a memorial.
PLEASE NOTE: It is our policy, after careful deliberation, to only list rank before the title name on a memorial when the service member died while in the service. We strive to always list service ranks in the biography section, including dates of promotion. We believe this is the best way to avoid confusion, especially when the service member acquired another title after the war, such as Dr., Judge, Rev., etc.
We will transfer memorials to other contributors in accordance with Find-A-Grave guidelines and are willing to consider the transfer of any particular memorial to any relative of that deceased veteran. If you wish us to transfer a memorial to you, send us a request through the Edit feature on the memorial you wish to acquire with an explanation of exactly how you are related to the deceased veteran.
If YOU are a member of the SUVCW or its allied orders and are interested in helping us with this project, we would appreciate receiving an email from you.
The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War is a fraternal organization dedicated to preserving the history and legacy of heroes who fought and worked to save the Union. Organized in 1881 and chartered by Congress in 1954, we are the legal successor to the Grand Army of the Republic.
