Thanks very much for the Celovsky memorial transfers. You have been a big help!
|Carolyn Bitner Cardwell||RE: Edgar W Rood - 52393764|
Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. My oldest daughter died of cancer in 2016 and I haven't done much with my Find A Grave. Could you please send me the correct dates for Edgar Rood again. He was my Great Great Grandfather.

|Jim Little||RE: Samuel Little|
This particular Samuel Little is stated on the headstone to be "a native of Ireland." The headstone also states he had "a zealous and persevering attachment to the Christian Religion as set forth in the principles and practice of the Reformed Presbyterian Church." So he's definitely Scots-Irish Presbyterian. This is my direct family line; they came in at Savannah, moved to South Carolina in the early 1800's, then to Ohio/Indiana about 1830.
I understand the Klein/Little connection, but those were usually through Pennsylvania and were, of course, German. Not this guy. Good luck!
|Carole Gideon||RE: Mary (Barnes/Barns) Patterson|
Hi. Well this is like so many other names where different factions spelled it differently. Here is where I got my information:
Mary Ellen Barnes attended the Greene Academy in Carmichaels in 1854 and 1855 (as did her husband). (Wonder if they met there and fell in love). She attended both the 1896 and 1900 reunions of the Academy. Her parents registered her as "Barnes". The 1850 census lists all of them as "Barnes". The death certificate for their son Thomas lists her as "Barnes".
I truly believe that her family just dropped the "e" after a while. I know when I do vertical files for the Historical Society, I would put Barnes/Barns. Don't know if you have enough room under "Maiden name". Sorry for the confusion. Do what you think is best.
|Laurie Foster||RE: Katherine Tompkins - 141172865|
That's so odd. From her birth and death dates I had assumed she was a grand-daughter. I had already looked at the 1940 census for all the male Tompkins and did not find any with a 5 year old daughter Katherine. Even now when I look at 1940 census for Millicient & Katherine all I see is a 3 year old daughter named Pauline. I did find Neoma in the 1940 census with Myrtle so already at age 5 she was living with her grandmother with 3 other Tompkins "kids" and the Lantz child. I see the obit says Katherine was her mother but she was so young to have a child that age. In fact another tree in ancestry shows a different mother and 2 other siblings. So I guess we may never know for sure. Thanks for your response. Are you related to Myrtle or someone in the family?

Regarding Find A Grave Memorial # 89255233, the grave of Myrtle Lantz and her husband Charles in Greenwood Cemetery, Muscatine Iowa.... do you have any idea who the Katherine N Tompkins (buried with them) is? Myrtle is my 2nd great aunt. My grandmother was a Tompkins and I have been researching on Ancestry for quite some time but have no Katherine N Tompkins born in 1935. If you could add any info you have to the memorial I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Yeah, I've had a few like that where every document you look at has a different date. It's usually easier with WWI & WWII era veterans because their draft cards have the dates as reported by themselves; but I had one guy who had a different year on his two cards..... it's enough to drive ya batty. LOL ^_^
You did a good job with explaining the date discrepancy in the bio; sometimes it's the best we can do.
Take care and God bless,

Hi--just curious if you're related to Henry & Emily Ricketts who are buried in the Spickard Masonic Cemetery in Grundy Co. Missouri? I am related--trying to find others who are researching them. Was glad to see you had made them a FindAGrave page.
