Find a Grave ID

Yes, of course We love genealogy! We're addicted! Aren't we all? After all it's in our blood!
I volunteer for FindAGrave along with contributor JGBC, my son, who is also a crazed genealogist. Most of our family has been in the good old USA from the 1620s on. So if you're wondering if our New England lines may be the same as yours...yes probably.
Before the USA, my lines were from ALL OVER Western Europe. Including but not necessarily limited to,
Paternal lines: England. Ireland. Scotland. Varmland, Sweden.
Maternal line: Southern France. Baden-Württemberg. High up in Lower-Saxony. Sao Jorge and Pico, Islands of The Azores.
NON REQUESTED Photos: In our attempt to get some areas of Pacific Crest completely photographed, we have just photographed thousands of them quickly, without cleaning the grave marker. We know this doesn't look great! If you desire a cleaned grave stone please do the following:
1. Contact the cemetery and ask them to properly clean your loved ones grave. Good luck, They may even do!
FYI: They aren't fans of Find a Grave so don't mention it.
2. "Request Photo" on FindAGrave and in notes ask the volunteer to "please clean up the grave before shooting it."
3. Once the new image is uploaded, let us know and ask us to delete ours. This will make room for future images.
These graves are typically unclaimed or Paupers' graves aka Potter's Field Graves
If we've provided an image at Pacific Crest of such a grave, you can bank on it being the correct niche or patch of grass your loved ones remains--cremains were place in.
PHOTO REQUESTS : Unfortunately a large number of the requests that we receive at Pacific Crest are unmarked. If this is the case, we will take a photo of the actual unmarked grave anyhow - often marking it with a pine cone. We always take multiple, high res. pictures so that you can see the grave itself and area in which it is located. You may find another family member if you look closely.
FYI, IF I PHOTOGRAPHED YOUR LOVED ONES GRAVE as a result of your request, please use the image as you would like. It is yours!
TRANSFERS: In the event that I created a memorial for your loved one, I would really prefer you were the owner or "manager" of their memorial. I don't care if it's your 10th GGF, I feel they should be yours! JUST ASK ME and please tell me HOW YOU'RE RELATED and Request A Photo. We want every grave we've created to have a grave image and grave location. The easiest way to request a transfer is to leave me a message on my Contributor page explaining your request, and I will get on it at my earliest convenience! Please do the same if someone requests a loved ones grave that you manage and are not related to.
Sorry, I won't let go of MY families memorials.
PLEASE send any and all edit requests by selecting EDIT on the memorial. Thanks!
