Floyd Pettis
Augusta - Floyd Pettis, 84, 230 Hudson, died Saturday at Osseo Hospital.
He was born in the town of Fairchild and married Margaret Whitcomb on July 26, 1917, at Fairchild. They farmed in the Fairchild and Price areas until moving to Augusta in 1959. He worked on road construction for many years and was a cement finisher when Highway 12 was built. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Paul, Appleton, Russell, New Brighton, Minn.; four daughters, Lorraine Hardesty, Augusta, Dorothy Heinemann, Larkspur, Calif., Phyllis Pettis, Sylvia Bertrang, both of Winthrop Harbor, Ill.; two brothers, Earl, Eau Claire, Juel, Fairchild; three sisters, Marie Volse, New Hall, Calif., Doris Nuttin [sic], Dearborn, Mich., Olive McSorley, Eau Claire; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Augusta, with burial in West Lawn Cemetery in Augusta. Friends may call this afternoon and evening and before services Tuesday at Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, where a rosary will be said at 8 p.m. today.
