Silver Event
Is Observed
By Couple
Mr. and Mrs. Harlow Pettis, route 3, Sheboygan, were guests of honor at a twenty-fifth wedding anniversary celebration Saturday evening at Brown Derby hall. Hostesses for the occasion were the couple's three daughters, Mrs. Donald Van Akkeren, Mrs. Anthony Katte and Mrs. Harvey Mihm. Their grandchildren, Ronald and Randall Mihm and Tanya Lynn Van Akkeren, presented them with a corsage and boutonniere.
To further the anniversary, an outdoor fry was held at the Pettis home on Sunday. Guests from distances beyond this vicinity were Juel Pettis and daughters, the Misses Barbara, Georgia and Gladys of Waukesha, Mr. and Mrs. David Hill of Portage, and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Vanderburg, Robert and Nancy of Antigo.
The exact date of the silver anniversary was July 6, but the celebration was delayed until now since Mr. and Mrs. Pettis had been on a motor trip to California, covering a distance of 6,300 miles. They spent some time with a sister of Mr. Pettis in Los Angeles, went to Mexico, Catalina Island, Hoover Dam, drove through the giant Redwoods, Bryce National park, and saw the eruption of Old Faithful at Yellowstone National park. They traveled west along the southern route and returned by way of Washington, Montana, the Dakotas, and Minnesota.
