Paul, Lorraine, Dorothy, Ruth, Joyce, Jean, Russell, and Kenneth attended a one room country school, called Pettisville School, for grades one through eight. The only amenity, seen there in later years, was a hand cranked Victrola. The drinking water was in a crock in the back of the room and the school was so cold in the winter that it was necessary to break the ice with the dipper to get a drink.
