Phyllis Arlene Pettis, daughter of Floyd and Margaret (Whitcomb) Pettis was born June 28, 1929, in Fairchild Township, rural Fairchild, WI.

She attended Pettisville Country School and graduated from Fairchild High School.

Following her graduation she attended Eau Claire Vocational School where her interests were in early childcare development.

Phyllis lived with her parents until the 1960's when she moved to Illinois, there she made her home with her sister Sylvia and her family. In 1985 she moved back to Eau Claire County and settled in Augusta to live near her sister Lorraine. Her final move was in 2001 when she and her sister Sylvia moved into St. Francis Apartments in Eau Claire.

Throughout her life Phyllis had always taken care of children in her home, not just her nieces and nephews but for others as well. Her life was her faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and spending time with family and all the children she cared for. She enjoyed all the company she had throughout her life and even though her hobbies were few, her lap was always available for any child she came across.

Whether it was Fairchild, Illinois, Augusta or Eau Claire, she was always active at the different Catholic churches she attended. While at St. Francis Apartments it was handy for her to attend mass at Sacred Heart Hospital when she was physically able.

Due to a sudden turn in her health she entered Dove Health Care Center in Eau Claire on Oct, 19th of this year. It was at the center that she passed away in hospice care on Saturday evening, Nov. 18, 2023, reaching the age of 94 years, 4 months and 21 days.

Phyllis will be dearly missed by her sister Sylvia Bertrang of Eau Claire; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Phyllis was also preceded in death by siblings, Paul Pettis, Lorraine Hardesty-Davis, Dorothy Heinneman and Russell Pettis: sister-in-law, Ella (Rimling) Pettis; brothers-in-law, Lyal Hardesty, Virgil Davis and Bill Heinemann.

A funeral mass will be held Monday, November 27, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Raymond's of Penafort Catholic Church with Father Greg Bohren officiating.

Burial will be in the West Lawn Cemetery in Augusta.
