LYMAN – Perley Beal, 74, of Goodwins Mills Village, died suddenly Sunday near his home.

He was born in Shapleigh, August 8, 1905, son of David and Annie Durgin Beal.

He was employed by a coal company in Sanford in the mid-1940s for 18 years by the Boston and Maine Railroad, and for three years at the Biddeford Box Co. Beal was also employed by Abbott's Garage, Goodwins Mills, for 10 years and retired in 1970.

Beal had lived in Springvale and Biddeford before moving to Goodwins Mills in 1957.

He is survived by a son, Biddeford Police Capt. Joseph P. Beal of Biddeford; three daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Beverly) Hackett of Manchester, Conn., Mrs. Gilbert (Mildred) Taylor of Robbinston, and Eleanor Philbrick of Biddeford; a brother, Norman Beal of Springvale; two sisters, Daisy Paquette of Springvale and Nina Beal of Sanford; 15 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Heald Funeral Home, 61, Main Street, Springvale. The Rev. Chandler Holmes of North Waterboro will officiate. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Springvale.

Calling hours will be held today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
