Marjorie M. Mottem, 66, of Punxsutawney R.D. 5, died Wednesday, November 23, 1988 at home. Mrs. Mottem was born January 22, 1922 in Frostburg, the daughter of Clarence Elmer and Dora (Mauk) Mitchell. She was married October 19, 1941 to Paul E. Mottem. She was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church of Frostburg and Order of Eastern Star Chapter 72. Surviving relatives include her husband, Paul E. Mottern; one son, Larry P. Mottem of New Jersey; one daughter, Mrs. Thomas (JoAnne) Shively of Punxsutawney R.D. 2; four grandchildren and one great-grandson; three sisters: Elsie Houston of Michigan, Rebecca Marie Johnson of Punxsutawney, and Dora Louise Minnick of Garrettsville, Ohio; and three brothers: Thomas Mitchell of Brookville, Wayne Mitchell of Frostburg, and Robert Scott Mitchell of Punxsutawney. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hopewell United Methodist Church of Frostburg. The Rev. Edd Myers will officiate. Interment will be in Hopewell Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Deeley Funeral Home of Punxsutawney, and for one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. Members of the Order of Eastern Star will conduct services at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family has suggested that memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
