Punxsutawney Spirit-January 27 , 1912: A quiet wedding of Thursday took place at the home of Mrs. S. Mauk, When her daughter Dora became the bride of Clarence Mitchell of Frostburg. Rev. McClain, pastor of the groom, officiating, The attendants were Carl Law, as best man, and Minnie Mauk, sister of the bride, as bridesmaid. Miss Mauk is an accomplished and very comely lady who counts her friends by the score, while Mr. Mitchell is a rising young business man. Their many friends gave them an old fashioned calithumpian serenade with the band assisting and at a late hour, rewarded well for the service, departed wishing a long successful life to them.
DORA MITCHELL of FROSTBURG DIES
Mrs. Dora Mitchell, of Frostburg, died yesterday in the Adrian Hospital following a lengthy illness.
She was 78 years of age.
Mrs. Mitchell was born December 8, 1883 in Sportsburg, a daughter of Thomas and Sarah Law Mauk and was married January 24, 1912 to Clarence E. Mitchell. She was a member of the Frostburg Methodist Church.
She was a school teacher prior to her marriage.
Surviving are four sons, two daughters and three step-daughters, Thomas, Wayne, and Fred, and Mrs. Paul Mottern, all of Frostburg; Robert Mitchell, of Punxsutawney; Mrs Darrell Minnick, of Garrettsville, Ohio; Mrs. Ray Houston, of Troy, Michigan; Mrs. Richard Hawk (Should be Houk) of Pughtown, West Virginia; and Mrs. Harry Johnson, of Punxsutawney.
She also leaves two brothers and a sister, Ira Mauk, of Punxsutawney R.D.2; Hamilton Mauk, of Punxsutawney, and Mrs. Laverne Flickinger, of Sagamore.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 1 o`clock in the Pifer Funeral Home here.
The Rev. Herbert Shobert will officiate and interment will be in the Hopewell Cemetery in Frostburg.
