Fred M. Mitchell, RD4 (Frostburg) died Wednesday, January 14 in the Altoona Veterans Hospital. He was 50 years of age.
Mr. Mitchell was born May 6,1925, in Perry Township, Jefferson County, the son of Clarence E. and Dora Mauk Mitchell. He was married to Ruth Whitfield who survives. A lifetime resident of the Frostburg area Mr. Mitchell was a veteran of World War II, and had been a carpenter.
Surviving relatives include: his wife three daughters: Mrs. Gary (Dora Ann) Wyant, Punxsutawney RD5; Ruth Caroline and Lisa Dawn Mitchell, both living at home; one son, Fred Matthew Mitchell, at home; five sisters: Mrs Ray (Elise) Houston, Troy, Michigan.;
Mrs. Richard (Irene) Houk, New Manchester, West Va.; Mrs Harry (Marie) Johnson, Punxsutawney; Mrs. Darrell (Louise) Minnick, Garrettsville, Ohio; Mrs. Paul (Marjorie) Mottern Somerset, Pa.; three brothers Thomas, Frostburg; Wayne, RD4; and Robert, Punxsutawney. One grandchild also survives.
Friends are being received in the Pifer Funeral Home in Punxsutawney where services will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The Rev. Richard Eddinger will preside and interment will follow in the Hopewell Cemetery in Frostburg.
