BIO: by Karla Todd Sherer

Alice is the daughter of David W. and Margaret Clements Moore. She grew up on a farm in Moore's Chapel area of Gibson Co. Her parents were involved in establishing Moore's Chapel in Gibson Co., Tennessee and donated some of the land for the church and small cemetery there according to the records. Alice had several siblings but there names are a real mix up on the Census records. There are some who have been verified as I've seen their death certificates but others cannot be verified at this time. Please note that I am listing only those who have been verified as:

Mary Ada Moore McAliley (1850 - 1898)*
John Calvin Moore (1852 - 1938)*
Margaret Elizabeth Moore Powell (1853 - 1937)*
Albert Clinton Moore (1855 - 1940)*
Ida S. Moore Blankinship (1865 - 1945)*
There are possibly about9 siblings. My research continues.

Alice married Charles Zachariah Bryant August 23, 1887, in Gibson Co. They were both born and raised in Gibson Co., TN and that is where they made their home and raised their family. They lived on a farm for many years and had one son and six daughters who lived and a son and two daughters who died as babies. Those children are:

Burgess Marie Bryant Bryant 1889 – 1961
Ruby May Bryant Fly1891 – 1967
Ione Elizabeth Bryant Gwaltney 1893 – 1979
Lura Jane Bryant Hudson 1895 – 1990
Fay Bryant 1897 – 1898
Ryal Bryant 1899 – 1900
Julian Egbert, Sr. Bryant 1901 – 1995
Jettie Lee Bryant Fulmer 1904 – 1993
Alice Eleanor Bryant 1905 – 1906
Evelyn Ida Bryant Nichols 1907 – 1988

As their parents before them, these children were all raised in Gibson County, Tennessee.

After the children grew up and married, Alice and Charley sold their farm and moved into town. Charley then worked as a carpenter doing home building and repair in and around the Milan area. Alice was a devoted mother and wife and was also a terrific cook from all the stories I've heard about her. After Charley died, Alice suffered a long illness. Prior to her death, she moved to Idabel, McCurtain Co., OK, to be cared for by her daughters, Jettie Bryant Fulmer and Evelyn Bryant Nichols. Upon her death, she was returned to Milan for her funeral service which was held at First Baptist Church in Milan where she was a long time member. Burial was at Oakwood Cemetery. Services were handled by Bodkin Funeral Home.

Children are connected below. There is one child who died as a baby and burial site has not yet been located.

BURIED in location - unknown at this time:
Alice Eleanor Bryant; 1905 – 1906

Alice is buried next to her loving husband, Charley Bryant. There are other Bryant family members nearby in plot #264 and in many other plots in Oakwood. Alice is my maternal great grandmother.

Rest eternally in peace as we never forget you....
