Ione is the daughter of Charles Zachariah and Alice Siddie Moore Bryant. Born and raised in Milan, TN, Ione was one of 7 children who lived to grow up and 4 who died as babies. Her siblings are:
Burgess Marie Bryant 1889 – 1961
Ruby May Bryant 1891 – 1967
Lura Jane Bryant 1895 – 1990
Fay Bryant 1897 – 1898
Ryal Bryant 1899 – 1900
Julian Egbert, Sr. Bryant 1901 – 1995
Jettie Lee Bryant 1904 – 1993
Alice Eleanor Bryant 1905 – 1906
Evelyn Ida Bryant 1907 – 1988
Ione married Albert Raymond Gwaltney on 1 Sep 1912 in Milan, Gibson Co., TN. They had one daughter and one son. They lived for a while in Jackson, and later moved to McKenzie where they are laid to rest. I remember my grandmother, Lura Jane Bryant Hudson, talking about Ione a lot. They were very close all through their lives as were all the sisters. Ione and Lura lived together in Idabel, OK for several years after Ione lost Raymond. Ione has been followed in death by her loving daughter Helen Elizabeth Gwaltney French. She is survived by her son and grandchildren plus extended family. Ione is my great aunt.
