Margaret Clements Moore is the daughter of John Calvin and Cynthia Utley Clements of Wake County, North Carolina. She married David W. Moore 19 Sep 1849, in Carroll County, TN. The marriage was announced in the Charleston Observer in Charleston, SC, where I believe they had family. By the 1860 Census, they had moved to Gibson Co., where they farmed and raised several children. Some of those children I currently have verified are: Mary Ada Moore McAliley, Dr. John Calvin, Rev. Albert Clinton, Ida S. Moore Blankinship, Margaret Elizabeth Moore Powell, and my Great Grandmother, Alice Siddie Moore Bryant. There are other children listed in various documents and they are: Luther, Lambert, M.F., Elma, (Eliga - a male whom I believe is Albert Clinton above), David W. (Jr??), and Emerson who could possibly be the same person as Luther but I'm not sure. Research is ongoing.

David and Margaret are attributed with having helped establish the Moore's Chapel community in Gibson Co., Tennessee. Supposedly, the land for the Moore's Chapel Methodist Church, (now a Family Center next to the newer church), was donated by David and Margaret. There is a photo that shows the building of the first Moore's Chapel Church with several men on the roof working. I'm told that one of those men is David so I suppose church members built it. This church is located on Hwy. 104, halfway between Milan and Trenton, in Gibson Co., Tennessee. David and Margaret, along with 3 other people, are now buried in the tiny cemetery. Margaret is my Gx2 grandmother.

Rest peacefully....
