OBITUARY: Palestine (TX) Herald-Press, Thursday, 28 August 1958:
H. F. Barthell, 95, resident of Anderson County for the past 68 years, died at 6 p.m. Wednesday in a local nursing home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Bailey Funeral Home, with the Rev. Otis Felton officiating. Burial will be in the Elkhart Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Boyd, Leland and Melvin Douthit, Floyd Barthell, Lloyd Henson and Herman Conaway.
Native of Canada, he came to the United States at the age of twelve. He has made his home south of Palestine for 68 years.
Survivors are his children, E. J. Barthell, G. H. Barthell and Mrs. C. E. Douthit, all of Palestine; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and three brothers, the Rev. Ben Barthell of Denver, Colo.; the Rev. George Barthell of Kitchner, Canada, and Gideon Barthell of Emporia, Kan.
