William Ira Hawkins well known farmer and fruit grower, died at 4:00 A.M. today at his home in Texico, Ill.. He was 73 years 8 months and 28 days of age.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 2:00 P.M. at the Panther Fork Baptist Church. The Rev. Roy Beal will officiate and burial will be in the nearby cemetery.
Friends may call at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix after 6:00 P.M. today and at the family home after 6:00 P.M. Friday.
Mr. Hawkins was the son of John and Nancy (Myers) Hawkins.
He was first married to Jesse Derring, who died in 1901. He was later married to Laura Wimberly, who survives.
Mr. Hawkins had been a member of Panther Fork Baptist Church since he was a young man.
Besides his wife he is survived by four sons, Herbert of New Comers Town, Ohio, Haywood of Kalamazoo, Mich., Frank of Kell and John of Texico; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Williams of Kell and Mrs. Mabel Tate of Texico; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren: four brothers, Wayne of Sandwich, Ill., Earl of Decatur, Elmer of Mt. Vernon and Roy of Kell; and 5 sisters, Mamie Byars of Kell, Iva Pate of Whiting, Ind., Zettie Blankenship of Yorkville, Ill., Gladys Hoadley of Earlville, Ill., and Hazel Scarbrough of Elgin, Ill.
Two sons preceded him in death.
