Roy L. (Buck) Hawkins, 91, Route 1, Texico, died 1 P.M. Jan. 8, 1992, at his home.

Mr. Hawkins was a retired carpenter and farmer.

He was born Jan. 6, 1901, in Texico, a son of John and Nancy (Myers) Hawkins. Dec. 23, 1922, in Jefferson County , he married Leona Lowery, who survives.

Services will be 2 P.M. Saturday at Panther Fork Missionary Baptist Church, rural Texaco, with the Revs. Russell Monroe and Melvin Chambliss officiating. Burial will follow in Panther Fork Cemetery.

Friends may call after 5 P.M. Friday at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Hawkins is survived by two daughters, Wanda Pierce of Texico and Barbara Tate of Harrisburg; one son-in-law, Davis Tate of Harrisburg; one sister, Gladys Hoadley of Sandwich; four grandchildren, Dennis Tate, Joyce Arnold, Roy Tate and Pam Hale; and nine great-children.

Mr. Hawkins attended Baird School and was the oldest member of Panther Fork Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Donald Hawkins; one grandson, Tommie Pierce; one son-in-law, Wallace Pierce; six brothers; and four sisters.
