Mrs. Iva B. Pate, age 81, 1522 119th St., Whiting, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 24 at Tri-State Manor Nursing Home after a lingering illness. Survivors: one daughter, Mrs. Ruby Le Conte of Cissna Park, Ill., two sons, John W. Pate of Dyer and George R. Pate of Whiting; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Zettie Blankenship of Sandwich, Ill., Mrs. Gladys Hoadley of Maple Park, Ill., and Mrs. Hazel Scarbrough of Elgin, Ill.; two brothers, Elmer Hawkins of Mount Vernon, Ill. and Roy Hawkins of Texico, Ill.; many nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Schlater Funeral Home, 1620 Indianapolis Blvd., Whiting with Rev. James A. Frink of the Hessville Baptist Church officiating. Burial at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 10 P.M. Thursday and 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 P.M. Friday, Resident of the Whiting area for 32 years; widow of the late attorney Robert J. Pate and mother of former Whiting City Court Judge George R. Pate.
