Robert E. Hawkins, 73, of 1139 N. Morgan St., a retired truck-driver for the Decatur Grocery Co., was dead on arrival at Decatur and Macon County Hospital at 2:04 A.M. today.

Mr. Hawkins was born near Mount Vernon on May 6, 1889. He was a son of John and Nancy Meyers Hawkins. Mr. Hawkins was married to Lena Smith in Danville on Dec. 29, 1911. He retired from his job with the grocery firm in 1956.

Mr. Hawkins leaves his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Walter W. (Norma) Taylor of Decatur; brothers, Wayne of Sandwich, Roy of Kell and Elmer of Mount Vernon; sisters, Mrs. Zetta Blankenship of Sandwich, Mrs. Virgil Scarbrough of Elgin, Mrs. Robert (Iva) Pate of Whiting, Ind., and Mrs. Floyd (Gladys) Hoadley of Kaneville, Ill., Funeral Services will be at 3 P.M. Friday in the Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home. Buriel will be in Graceland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 P.M. Thursday.
