Elmer was the third of four children born into his farm family. His parents operated a farm in Carroll Township, Perry County, where he was probably born.

Elmer L. Shatto Dies; Brother of Hershey Woman

The survivors of Elmer Levy Shatto, 73, Shermansdale Route 1, include a sister, Mrs. Roy Sternberger, of Hershey. Shatto who died on Wednesday at his home operated a general store at Crum's Corner in Perry County for 16 years.

Other survivors are his wife, Mrs. Lillie Hicks Shatto; four daughters, Mrs. Lester R. Morrison, Newport; Mrs. Clayton H. Watson and Mrs. Percy R. Smeigh, Shermansdale; and Mrs. Luther Lebo, Carlisle Route 5; three sons, Lest L. Carlisle; Richard S. and Elmer L., both of Shermansdale; 20 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
