Elmer Levi Shatto
SHERMANS DALE—Elmer Levi “Junior” Shatto, Jr., 91, of Shermans Dale was called to his eternal home on Saturday, May 9, 2015 in the Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
Elmer was born February 20, 1924 at Shermans Dale to the late Elmer Levi Shatto, Sr. and Lilly (Hicks) Shatto. He was also preceded in death by a son, Darwin E. Shatto and five siblings, Lester Shatto, Alta Morrison, Erma Watson, Richard Shatto and Elva Shatto.
He retired after 45 years from C. H. Masland & Sons, Carlisle. He was a member of the Shermans Dale United Methodist Church and the Shermans Dale Fire Company.
Elmer was an avid hunter and enjoyed mowing the grass on his John Deere. He was a family man and loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Above all, he loved his wife of 72 years.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Louise (Frye) Shatto, a daughter, Marjorie A. Kapp and her husband Eugene D.; a daughter in law, Marian E. Shatto; a sister, Agetha Smeigh, all of Shermans Dale, 8 grandchildren, Jacklyn D. Kline of Lewisburg, Daphne J. Shatto of Philadelphia, Timothy L. Shatto of Shermans Dale, Mitzi G. Richard of New Bloomfield, Michelle A. Bogard of Shermans Dale, Douglas E. Kapp, deceased, Amy R. Robinson of New Bloomfield, Scott R. Kapp of Harrisburg and 17 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 in the Shermans Dale United Methodist Church, 50 Windy Hill Road, Shermans Dale, Pa. 17090 with the Rev. Nancy L. Goff officiating. Viewing will be from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM Wednesday in the church. Burial will be in the Mt. Gilead Cemetery, Shermans Dale.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Shermans Dale United Methodist Church, 40 Windy Hill Road, Shermans Dale, Pa. 17090 or to Celtic Hospice and Home Health, 900 Century Drive, Suite 201, Mechanicsburg, Pa. 17055.
