Alta S. Morrison, 82, of Newport, died Tuesday, Jan 9, in Polyclinic Medical Center, Harrisburg. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, the Newport Civic Club, Newport Fire Company Auxiliary, General Federation of Women's Club, Perry Chapter 459, Order of Eastern Star and Topath Court 138 Order of Amaranth. She was vice president of Morrison Chevrolet, Inc. She was the widow of Lester R. Morrison. Surviving are two sons, Glenn E. and Dale R., both of Newport; a daughter, Brenda Carns of Thomasville; two brothers, Richard S. and Elmer R. Shatto Jr., both of Shermans Dale; three sisters, Erna Watson and Elva Lebo, both of Carlisle, and Agetha Smeigh of Shermans Dale; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services were held Saturday, Jan 13, in the Myers Funeral Home. Burial was in Newport Cemetery.
