John Christy died at his home in Coon Rapids last Friday, June 8. The deceased during most of his life was a farmer in the Star neighborhood, where the family of 10 children- seven boys and three girls were raised- Robert, Gerald, Paul, Donald, Willard, Maurice and Walter, Mrs. Frank Moylan and Misses Clara and Josephine. John Christy was born at Kendall County, Illinois, in 1867, being in his 61st year at his death.

He was married to Mrs. Margaret Doran in Coon Rapids in April 1896. The forepart of their married life was spent in Greene County, but many years last past in Carroll County.

Beside the ten children mentioned, the deceased leaves wife and three sisters, Mrs. Fred Winthouser, Mrs. Joseph Danner and Miss Anna Christy and two brothers- George and James to mourn his passing. John Christy was a good neighbor and citizen. He had been afflicted for number of years with poor health, because of which he quit the farm two years or so ago and moved to town.

Funeral services were conducted Monday morning by Father Hayes which was attended by many relatives and friends. The remains were interred in the Coon Rapids public Cemetery. The early settlers in the community are passing rapidly. Soon might the veterans of the Civil War. They will be no more.
