Requiem Mass was celebrated Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 11 a.m. for Miss Mary Josephine Christy, 76, in the Annunciation Church here. The Rev. Edward Carpenter officiated. Miss Christy, a retired schoolteacher, died Saturday, Nov. 24, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital where she had been a patient for some time following several strokes.
Casketbearers were Ronald Beyerink, Joe Wolterman, Alfred Parker, Dwaine Duncan, Clarence Jacobsen and Orville Pevestorf. Interment was in the Annunciation Cemetery under the direction of Mason Funeral Home.
The Rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Miss Christy, a daughter of John and Margaret Doran Christy, was born in Carroll County Dec. 1, 1896. She taught for many years in this area, including rural and Dedham and Coon Rapids parochial schools, retiring from the latter about ten years ago.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Clay (Nell) Mathews, Hayward, Calif.; four brothers, Paul Christy, Albuquerque, N. Mex.; Donald Christy, Lajolla, Calif., Maurice Christy, Portland, Ore., Walter (Pat) Christy, Nevada City, Calif.; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers: Bob, Gerald and the Rev. Willard Christy; and a sister, Mrs. Clara Edmund.
