Requiem Mass will be celebrated at Annunciation Church at 10 a.m. Friday for Gerald Christy of Albuquerque, New Mexico, former Coon Rapids resident. Rev. R. E. Dougherty will officiate. Burial will be in the Coon Rapids Cemetery.
Mr. Christy, who had been in ill health for some time, died Monday morning in Albuquerque. While a resident in Coon Rapids, he was postmaster for a number of years.
The Rosary was recited on Wednesday and Thursday nights at the Mason Funeral Home.
James Gerald Christy was born in Greene County, Iowa, October 4, 1903, a son of John and Margaret Christy. On May 23, 1932, he was married to Gertrude Mingus.
He is survived by his widow and 10 children: Charlotte, Mrs. Bryan Lee of Omaha, Nebr.; Carol, Mrs. James Humphrey of Euclid, Ohio; Mary, Mrs. Joseph Leahy Jr. of Omaha, Nebr.; Alice, Mrs. Tom Newcomm of Miami, Florida; Geraldine, Mrs. Dave Thomas of Manning; Linda, Greg, Willard, Edward and Leonard, all of Albuquerque.
Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters: Josephine Christy of Coon Rapids; Robert Christy of Oakland, Calif.; Nellie, Mrs. Clay Matthews, Hayward, Calif.; Clara, Mrs. Eddie Edmund, Oakland, Calif.; Paul and Donald Christy of Des Moines; Maurice Christy of Portland, Oregon; Walter Christy of Modesto, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Fr. Willard Christy.
