I have been a Find A Grave volunteer since 2000 and enjoy what I do to help others find their ancestors. As with all volunteerism this is done without pay. Please remember this when you request transfers and are denied or demand an edit for which you have no history to back up the edit - there is no need for snide and angry remarks.

Simply having someone in your family tree is not grounds for a management transfer request. With hundreds of thousands of contributors, we have many overlapping family trees and it would be impossible for all contributors to manage their entire tree.

Transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations. This would be your siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

The goal is not to "own" every memorial of those to whom you are related. The ultimate goal should be to have meaningful, accurate memorials that honor those who have passed away, regardless of who created the memorial or who maintains it.

Keep on "graving" because we do make a difference.
