Mrs. Thomas Murphy

Residents of New Prague and community were deeply grieved to learn of the death of Mrs. Thomas Murphy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christ Meyer of this city which occurred at the Faribault Hospital at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, October 4th. Deceased had been suffering with acute appendicitis and after a short illness was operated on at St. Mary's Hospital at Minneapolis. She was believed to be recovering, but suffered a relapse and was again operated on at the Faribault Hospital on Friday, where she passed away without ever having regained consciousness after the anesthetic.
Mayme Meyer* was born at Jordan on November 9, 1885. When ten years of age, she came with her parents to this city and lived here until the year 1907, when they removed to Le Sueur Center. On October 20, 1908 she was united in marriage in this city to Thomas M Murphy and in the year 1914 they removed to Shieldsville, where they had made their home ever since.
Deceased was in the prime of life at the time of her sad demise. She was possessed of a kind and loving disposition and was held in the highest regard by all her friends, whom she numbered by the score, not only here but also at Kilkenny and Shieldsville, where she endeared herself to all those who came to know her during her resident there. One of the saddest parts of her death was that she left an infant son, who reached his first birthday the day after his mother's death.
Besides her grieving husband and little son, Leo Thomas, she is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Christ Meyer, three brothers and four sisters. They are Henry and Peter J. Meyer and Mrs. Frances Huff of Minneapolis, Mrs. Joseph Linn of St. Joe, Albert F., Agnes and Stasia Meyer of this city.
Services were at the Shieldsville church at 10 o'clock on Monday morning, October 7th, when Rev. Malloy preached a touching sermon and paid a glowing tribute to the departed one. The remains were then brought to New Prague for burial, followed by a number of cars bearing a host of sorrowing relatives and friends. Services were held in St. Wenceslaus Catholic church at 1 o'clock, Rev. Father Cermak officiating. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery.
The pallbearers were friends from Kilkenny. Deceased was also a member of the Rosary Society, members of which were present at the funeral.
Among those from a distance in attendance at the funeral were Mrs. John Murphy, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Matt Murphy and children, Mrs. And Mrs. Dick Murphy, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Murphy, William Murphy, Miss Mae Murphy, James O'Conner, Arthur Finnigan, Mr. and Mrs. Gallespie, Mrs. And Mrs. George Shields and son, Edgar McCullough, Mrs. And Mrs. Hanlon and children, Mr. and Mrs. John Madden, Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Minton and Mr. and Mrs. Hurt and sons of Kilkenny and Shieldsville, Mr. and Mrs. C.D.
