Clara Frances (Hofmann) Baggenstoss, age 96 of Atlantic, Iowa, died on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at Allen Place in Atlantic.

She was born the daughter of Frank X. and Gertrude M (Ohmann) Hofmann on December 1, 1926, in Albany, Minnesota.

Clara received her education at a Catholic girl's school in Little Falls, Minnesota, and graduated in 1945.

She was united in marriage to Lloyd August Baggenstoss on October 19, 1946, in Albany, Minnesota.

Following their marriage, the couple lived in Mankato, Minnesota for 2 1/2 years, from there they moved to Keokuk, Iowa, then on to Atlantic in 1967.

Clara worked at the Atlantic News Publisher, and later, the Atlantic High School Cafeteria. She was a member of Saint Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic, and was part of their many activities, especially "Right To Life".

Clara's biggest loves in her life were her husband, Lloyd, her Catholic faith, and her family. Her favorite work outside the home was at the cafeteria at the High School. She so enjoyed the students and going to their basketball games with her friends. In the later years, she and Lloyd would travel the country.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Gertrude Hofmann; husband, Lloyd Baggenstoss; brothers, Joseph, Vernon, Victor, Anthony, Valerien, Patrick, Robert and an infant brother, Frank; sisters, Florence, Monica, Helen, Loyola, Jane and Mary Ann; daughter-in-law, Rhonda; and an infant great-granddaughter.

Clara will be missed by: her three daughters, Wendy (Tito) Alvarez of Port Charlotte, FL, Deborah (Tom) Casteel of Maryville, MO, and Jennifer (Ron) Brown of Cameron, MO; her four sons, Kevin (Cathy) Baggenstoss of Lee Summit, MO, Bruce Baggenstoss of Oklahoma City, OK, Daniel (Debbie) Baggenstoss of Plattsmouth, NE, and David (Sheila) Baggenstoss of River Edge, NJ; along with twenty-two grandchildren and Twenty-five great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM, Friday, February 10, 2023, at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic, Iowa with burial to follow in the church cemetery in Atlantic, Iowa.

Visitation with the family present will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2023, from 6 pm until 8 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Atlantic.

Memorials can be made to "Right To Life" and mailed or left at the funeral home.
