Lloyd A. Baggenstoss, 71, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away, Tuesday, Aug. 15 at the Cass County Memorial Hospital.Funeral Mass was at the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic, Iowa. Celebrant was Fr. Michael Peters and interment was at the Atlantic Catholic Cemetery.The son of Alexander and Gertrude Madden Baggenstoss He was born June 6, 1924 in Albany. He grew up there and graduated from Albany High School and then St. John’s University, Collegeville with a master’s degree in chemistry. His marriage to Clara Frances Hofmann took place Oct. 19, 1946 in Albany. He lived two and one-half years at Mankato, and 13 years at Keokuk, Iowa before moving to Atlantic and living there the last 28 years. He served in the United States Air Corps during World War II and was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic, was a member of the Parish Council, Knights of Columbus, Right to Life, Iowa Poetry Association, American Red Cross Blood Donor, and had been employed by General Mills and later Walnut Grove, where he was a chemist and lab manager, retiring in 1989.Surviving are his wife, Clara Baggenstoss of Atlantic; three daughters, Wendy McDonald of Port Charlotte, Fla., Debbie Casteel of Maryville, Mo, and Jennifer Brown of Cameron, Mo.; four sons, Kevin Baggenstoss of Harrisonville, Mo., Bruce Baggenstoss of Biloxi, Miss., Denny Baggenstoss of Plattsmouth, Neb., and David Baggenstoss of Ames, Iowa; 19 grandchildren, one great-grandson, also, two sisters, June Everson and husband, Russ of Seattle, Wash., and Daisy Donker of Faribault, two brothers, Louis Baggenstoss and wife, Addie, and Graydon Baggenstoss, all of Albany.He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Jim, Harold, Elwin, Jake and Gordon, and a sister, Erna Davis.Pallbearers were Kevin, Bruce, Danny, David and Dustin Baggenstoss, and Michael Casteel. Honorary bearers were Dale Rourick, Jack DeWolf, Ray Underwood, Ray Smith and Dr. Keith Leonard.
