Thelma Leona Pirtle, 99, of Macomb formerly of Washington, IL and Hancock County IL passed away Friday August 1, 2014 at the Elms Nursing Home in Macomb. She was born November 26, 1914 in rural Hancock County to Howard and Hazel (Barnard) Boyer. She married Lawson H. Dunsworth in 1934; he preceded her in death April 12, 1969. She later married Charles Pirtle; he preceded her in death on July 19, 2000.
She is survived by one son, Dickson (Kathryn "Kass" Martin) Dunsworth of Holmes Beach, FL; one sister, Wilda Neal of Washington, IL; three brothers, Leon (Geneva) Boyer of Adrain, IL; Jim (Betty) Boyer of Carthage, IL and Bill (Betty) Boyer of Carthage, IL.
She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Vernon Boyer; two sisters, Betty Henson and Helen Overlander.
She was born and raised in Hancock County. She was a charter member of the First Christian Church of Sunnyland, IL, enjoyed playing cards, sewing, needle point and crocheting. She was a member of the Eastern Star for over 60 years. Thelma found great comfort living at the Everly House.
Burial will be in Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage, IL.
