1. Vernon Leroy Boyer, 89, of Ferris died at fMemorial Hospital in Carthage Monday, December 16, 2002 of natural causes.
Vernon was born October 22, 1913 the son of Howard S. and Hazel (Barnard) Boyer. On June 24, 1933 he was united in marriage to Luella Metternich in Hancock County, Illinois. She preceded him in death on April 1, 1999. Vernon had lived in Ferris for 67 years.
Vernon is survived by 5 sons, Richard and his wife Wanda of Ferris, Kenneth and his wife Betty of Ferris, Darrell "Beano" and his wife Judy of Ferris, Earl and his wife Dena of Nauvoo, and Alfred and his wife Julie of Hermosa Beach, Ca; three brothers, Billy and his wife Betty of Carthage, Leon and his wife Geneva of Adrian and James and his wife Betty of Carthage; two sisters, Wilda Neal and Thelma Pirtle both of Washington, Illinois; 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Luella; one grandson, Delbert Boyer; one brother Hubert and two sisters, Helen Overlander and Betty Henson.
Visitation will be held form 3 to 8 P.M. Thursday, Dec. 19 at Neiser-Printy Funeral Home in Carthage, with Family meeting friends form 6 to 8 P.M.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, Dec. 20 at Neiser Printy Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Moss Ridge Cemetery, Carthage.
