Hubert Earl Boyer, 79, of Burnside,and a lifetime resident of Ferris/Adrian area, died Friday, June 20, at Memorial Hospital in Carthage.
He was born August 25, 1917, in Rock Creek Township, the son of Howard and Hazel Barnard Boyer. He married Arlene Lee Bell on July 14, 1940 in Carthage. She survives in Burnside.
He is also survived by one son, Arnold (and Nina) Boyer of Carthage; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Jerry (Judy) Boyer of Carthage; four brothers, Vernon Boyer of Ferris, Leon Boyer of Adrian and William and James Boyer of Carthage; three sisters, Mrs. Charles (Thelma) Pirtle and Wilda Neal of Washington, Ill. and Mrs. Herbert (Helen) Overlander of Mendon; four grandchildren, Mrs. Thomas (Susan) Weiss, Steven (and Marcy) Boyer, Eric (and Tonya) Boyer and Jamie Boyer; and three great-grandchildren, Andy, Brazton and Ariana Boyer,
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Jerry Boyer; Infant twin daughters, Sharon and Sandra Boyer, one grandson, Shane Boyer and one sister Betty Henson.
Boyer attended Hancock County Schools. He farmed with his father in the rural Carthage area. Since 1945 he and his wife farmed north of Carthage.
He also bussed school children from rural Carthage, to Carthage schools. Boyer owned a milk truck and transported milk for Swift & Company in Carthage for many years.
He was a member of Ferris Christian Church, Ferris and the Hancock County Farm Bureau.
Services were held June 24 at Lamporte Funeral Home in Carthage with Charles Ferguson officiating. Burial was in Moss Ridge Cemetery, in Carthage. A memorial has been established in his memory.
