Bio and Links
Bio Photo In early 2015, the Golden Gate National Cemetery Photography Project completed its 3-year-long effort. The cemetery, located in San Bruno, San Mateo County, California, is now 99.96% photographed, with less than 50 inscriptions that need to be photographed.

Since March 2015, I have been photographing the markers in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Colma, San Mateo County, California. Only 25% of the 355,000 markers there have been photographed. Many of the burials are reinterments from the now defunct Calvary Cemetery in San Francisco. I am currently posting photographs in Sections D and V: For Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery the San Francisco Genealogy website is invaluable:

http://www.sfgenealogy.com/php/cemetery/cemeteryindex.php?

I add new memorials as need be and add missing information and links.

Please contact me if you have taken a better photograph of a headstone for a memorial (e.g., with better lighting), and I will be happy to remove my photo.

Golden Gate National Cemetery Credits:

FAG members Samme Templin, Theresa Miller, Christine S., and Cindy S. helped post the photos.

FAG contributor Stewart Blandon completed Section 2E. Stewart also created an excel spreadsheet for the burials in the cemetery that has been vital for the project. Stewart and Kathleen Clemence added plot information to memorials.

FAG contributor Kathleen Clemence completed Section R.

FAG contributor Christine and Winmar finished photographing and posting photos from Section MA.

Notes on the Golden Gate National Cemetery:

Section A: Redo north facing markers starting with A-133.

Section E: Contains markers for 45 graves of German and Italian prisoner of war from World War II; there also about 100 graves of servicemen who died between 1865 and 1910.

I am currently interested in the Brocher, Lahey, Williamson, Weber, and Grumann families of eastern Wisconsin, particularly Manitowoc County.

I am also researching Nuzum, Wright, Wheeler families of western Wisconsin.

Finally, I am researching Welch, Belden, Dunbar familiies of southeastern Minnesota.

RE: Golden Gate National Cemetery photos
Thanks, I was able to make the spelling edit but they charge $5 for becoming the manager.
Appreciate your help, Tom. Thanks so much.

Golden Gate National Cemetery photos
Thank you so much for being part of the photography of this cemetery. I found two family members there. The photo of Clara Oakman wife of Sterling Oakman, a serviceman was invaluable to my research. But I wonder why her memorial is not " managed" as I have been working on managing the memorials of a certain line of my family. Can you explain how these are put up with not managers? Thanks so much!

RE: Mrs. Walter O'Day
I did a little checking and I believe that the hospital mentioned in the obituary is MacGee Hospital that is still in Pittsburg, PA.
I also read this to say that prior to the birth of her son on 10/11/1917, Mrs O'Day had lost another child at birth. Such a sad story. I am going to do a little more looking around and if I find anything that contributes to this, I will be in touch. Oh, there actually is a Pittsburg, WV.
