I'm starting to see way too many headstones being cleaned. This troubles me. It is not your responsibility to touch or disturb a headstone. Cleaning them with a power washer is on so many levels of wrong it's scary. Using any detergent is also wrong, especially bleach as it seeps into the cracks of the stone and weakens it until it will crumble.
If you must clean a stone, soap and water and elbow grease with a soft bristled brush are the only things you should use.
NO DETERGENTS, BLEACH, or HIGH PRESSURE WASHERS!
