Mary Stephenson Hohage, 86, of 104 Thompson Gardens, Waynesburg, died at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 25, 1983, in Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va. She had not been in the best of health for some time.

She was born March 31, 1897, in Franklin Township, a daughter of Ross and Harriet McNeely Scott.

Mrs. Hohage had spent all of her life in the Waynesburg area and was a member of Oak View United Methodist Church, Lady Greene Rebecca Lodge 385, East Franklin Grange 1709 and the Whiteley and Franklin Township Farm Women.

She was married twice. Her first husband, R. Cooke Stephenson, died February 21, 1969.

Her second husband, Alfred Hohage, whom she married January 10, 1979, survives.

Also surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Willis (Gwendolyn) Cowell of Perry, Mich., Mrs. Forney (Lucille) Phillips of Waynesburg R.D.4, Mrs. George (Jean) Spray of Girard, Ohio, Mrs. James (Sara) Varner of Cortland, Ohio, and Mrs. James (Mildred) Maize of Waynesburg; one son, Kenneth Stephenson of Virginia Beach, Va.; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ewing Gordon of Waynesburg R.D.1 and Mrs. Myrine (sic) Crislip of Fairmont, W.Va.; one brother, Russell Scott of Waynesburg and several nieces and nephews.

An infant son; one sister, Mildred Moore; and four brothers, Freemont (sic), John, Raymond and Austin, are deceased.

SCOTT - Friends of Mary Stephenson Hohage of 104 Thompson Gardens, Waynesburg, who died Tuesday, October 25, 1983, are being received in the Glise E. Mariner and Samuel A. Milliken Funeral Home, 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 27, with the Rev. William Ryan officiating. Burial in Greene County Memorial Park.
