James Fremont Scott obituary, Waynesburg Republican, Waynesburg (Greene County), Pennsylvania, 19 February, 1971

James Fremont Scott, 72, of Greensboro Star Route, Waynesburg, a retired employe of West Penn Power Co., died at 6:20 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, 1971, in Greene County Memorial Hospital, Waynesburg.

He had suffered what appeared to have been a heart mild attack last week. He was hospitalized only since Sunday and his death was unexpected.

Since his retirement from the West Penn Power Co. in 1962, after serving on the line crew based in Waynesburg for 35 years, he devoted full time to operating the family farm. It has been owned by members of his family for three generatins and he was born and resided there his entire life.

Mr. Scott has a lifelong interest in farming and stock raising and had continued to maintain it as one of the best kept farms in the area. It is located along Coallick Run on the Waynesburg - Greensboro Road in Franklin Township.

His interest in farming and farm life was also centralized in the Franklin Township Grange, where he was an active member for more than 50 years. He was a familiar figure at livestock meetings, demonstrations and sales. His principal livestock interest was in fine wool sheep and beef cattle.

He was a lifelong member of the Coallick United Methodist Church which early member of his family helped to build.

Mr. Scott was born May 9, 1898, a son of Adam Ross Scott and Hariett McNeely Scott, both of whom were members of early families of the Coallick section of Franklin Township.

He was married to the former Euphen Smith on December 20, 1920. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary December 20, 1970.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Benjamin (Wilma) Paul, of Greensboro Star Route, and Mrs. Ralph (Eloise) Fuller, of Charleston, W. Va.; four grandchildren: and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Mary Stephenson, of Waynesburg; Mrs. Ewing (Margaret) Gordon, of Waynesburg, R. D. 1; Russell Scott, of Waynesburg; Mrs. Clyde (Irene) Crislip, of Fairmont, W. Va., and John Scott, of Lansing, Mich.

Three brothers and one sister are deeased.

Funeral service (sic) were held Sunday with burial in Scott Cemetery.
