ROSE LEE BURNS
Rose Lee Burns died at the Anderson County Hospital Oct. 2, 1984, at the age of 90 years I m and 9 days. She was one eleven children born to Ebenezer and Lu Dell (Swisher) Dart Aug. 23, 1894. She was born at Kincaid. She spent her childhood in the Kincaid- Mapleton vicinity. The last 64 years of her life were spent in Garnett.
Rose Lee Dart and John William Burns were united in marriage Dec. 26, 1919, in Garnett. This union was blessed with the births of four daughters and one son.
Rose was a member of First Christian Church in Garnett.
Preceding her in death were her husband, John; a daughter, Ruth Grace, who died in infancy; her son, in a car wreck in 1964; her parents; a brother, Jack Dart; two grandsons, Norman Moyer and Joseph Moyer; two granddaughters, Fern Christine Moyer and Rebecca Holmes Reed; and two sisters, Florence Coen and Lois Hunt.
Those left to mourn her passing include three daughters and their families; Pauline Moyer, Welda, Kathryn Moyer, Garnett, and Beverly Holmes, Arkansas City, Kan.; one daughter-in-law, Dorothy Burns, Garnett; seven sisters, Mae Lilly and Bonnie Koontz, Ottawa, Mary Maxey, Kansas City, Kan., Zona Smith, of Lawrence, Bernadine Tinsley, Wellsville, Kan., and Vivian Haynes and Blanche Brady, Garnett; 16 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; a host of relatives and friends.
Rose was a kind and caring woman. She was always there to lend a helping hand or just to listen. She will be sadly missed by her family and all who knew her. She enriched the lives of many. Rev. Kendal Bates officiated at services Friday, Oct. 5, at First Christian Church. Music was by Jeanine Zentner, organist, and Gary Benjamin, soloist. Burial was in Garnett Cemetery. Casketbearers were Robert Moyer, Jr., John Moyer, John Burns, Richard Burns, Bill Burns and Tony Moyer.
