Funeral services for Martin Thorson were held Saturday, March 19, 1960, at 2 p.m. from the Chippewa Lutheran church at Brandon. Rev. Earl E. Dreyer officiated. The pallbearers were: Oswald Olson, Edwin Severson, Theo. Knutson, Harold Hanson, James Pederson and Clarence Sanders. Interment was in the Chippewa Lutheran cemetery. Martin Thorson was born on Nov. 20, 1882, in Moe township, Douglas county, the son of Lars and Anna Thorson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Chippewa Lutheran church at Brandon and grew to manhood on the home farm. Mr. Thorson has been a resident of Moe township all his life and has followed the carpentering trade. He passed away Wednesday, March 16, at the age of 77 years, 3 months and 25 days. He is survived by four sisters and one brother: (Louise) Mrs. Ole Arntson of Moe township, Miss Minnie Thorson of Minneapolis, (Lorenza) Mrs. Meyer Skrove of Alexandria, (Lillian) Mrs. Carl Scherrer of Brandon and Oscar Thorson of Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.
