After an illness of many months, Mrs. Axel Wicklander passed away Saturday evening at 4:30 o'clock, death being caused by diabetes and complications. While her passing was not unexpected still it came as a shock to her family and friends. She was just twenty-eight years of age.
Agnes Thorson wa born in Moe township July 16, 1901 the daughter of the late Lars Thorson. She was one of a family of twelve children, seven of whom survive. She came to Alexandria in 1919 when she began work at the local telephone exchange. She remained there until obliged to quit on account of illness about fifteen months ago. She has been confined to her home and most of that time she was confined to her bed. She was given every care but to no avail. She was married to Axel Wicklander January 10, 1924, who survives her. Beside her husband, she leaves to mourn her loss the following brothers and sisters: Martin Thorson, Mrs. Ole Arntson (Louise) of Moe township; Mrs. Mayer Skrove (Lorenza) of Brandon township; Mrs. Hans Helgeson (Selma) of Moe; Minnie and Oscar of Minneapolis and Mrs. Carl Sherrer (Lillian) of Alexandria. Her parents preceded her in death as did also five brothers and sisters. Funeral services were held at 12:30 o'clock at the Anderson chapel and at 2 o'clock from the Chippewa Lutheran church at Brandon, conducted by Rev. J. A. Peterson. Interment was made in the church cemetery. The pallbearers were: Emil Peterson, Mayer Skrove, Jack, Theo. and Carl Scherrer and Edwin Stuberg.
