Lawrence Arthur Thorson passed away Wednesday, May 18 at 6 o'clock p.m. at Battle Lake Sanitarium where he had been since February after several months illness.
Arthur was born June 10th, 1898 in Moe township, his parents being Mr. and Mrs. Lars Thorson. He remained on the farm until about 20 years old, since then he has worked at various places. His health has not been very good for some time and he returned here last fall and remained at his parental home until he went to Battle Lake. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon from the home and Chippewa Free church Rev. J. A. Peterson officiating. The pallbearers were Carl and Theodore Knudsen, Jack and Theodore Scherrer, Harvey Helgeson, and Lloyd Thorson. Interment was at the church cemetery south of town. Besides his parents, Arthur leaves the following sisters and brothers to mourn his departure: Mrs. Ole Arntson, Mrs. Meyer Skrove, of this vicinity, Mrs. Hans Helgeson and Martin of LaGrand, Mrs. Axel Wicklander and Mrs. Carl Scherrer of Alexandria, Miss Minnie and Oscar Thorson of Alexandria, two brothers and a sister have gone before, his sister, Mrs. Smedstad died only a week ago. Arthur bore his suffering cheerfully and was longing to go to his eternal rest, which he expressed to his pastor, Rev. Peterson who called on him several times at the hospital.
