m. Ann Robertson; b.22 Aug 1820 (1824), Perth, Scot.; m. 24 Dec 1847.
1871 Census lists him as a farmer. They were founders of the Burgoyne Presbyterian Church, And lived on Lots 21,22 Arran TWP, Bruce.
Note on p.80 in 1880 Atlas of Bruce Co. he was a farmer, owned 154 acres, Con B lot 21. Post office, Burgoyne. Second note, p101 of the atlas says "is a Canadian, born 1826. Moved to Bruce Co. 1852. Owns 154 acres of land being W ½ lots 21,22, Con B. Has been a justice of the peace for past 18 years."
1901 census Port Elgin village lists him b. 8 Mar 1826, in Ont. and a Presb. Farmer, residing at 59 Lot 61-87, p61 of Census.

We have their first child as
-Janet McLachlan (b.1852-North ElmsIey, Lanark,Ont. (NB2343RF)She is thought to have moved to USA.

1864 Burgoyne Presbyterian Church. "For some four years after leaving the school, services were held in Stark's Hall. The first reference to a church was made in 1864 when it was moved by Archie McLachlan, seconded by Donald McLachlan "that a church is very much needed and that we do proceed forthwith in preparation for its erection."
