[Father and Mother attended the Presbyterian Church at Burgoyne. Mother had been brought up a Baptist but united with the Presbyterian Church after her marriage. She however had such convictions regarding believers Baptism that she wouldn't have anything to do with the christening of the children. Father was an Elder in the Church and had the first four or five of the family christened. I and the following ones were spared this rite. I have heard my brother Will tell of how one Sunday morning in going to Church with Father they called on their way at Uncle Donalds. On going into the house Donald told father that he had received a letter from Sandy—a Brother who had studied for the Presbyterian Ministry—"What do you think has happened to Sandy" said Donald. "What has happened to him", said Father. "Sandy has become a Baptist" said Donald." "poor Sandy".]
