Atlas of Bruce Co, has R. McLachlan born in Lanark co in 1832, settled in Bruce Co 1860. PO and residence in Port Elgin. The 1901 Census, p. 65 lists Rob't b. 30 May 1832, married to Sarah, b. 1 June 1832, Rob't is listed as a blacksmith, and they lived in Port Elgin, B3-23. family 93
(NB2281RF) He was a hotel keeper, 1881, and a blacksmith in 1904. He was Presbyterian and a founding member of the Sons of Temperance #396, Middleville, in Apr of 1856. He died of apoplexy, certified by Dr. F.H. Wells.
A possible 9th child was born after 1876, but no name is available.
