Ida Lessia Starnes was the youngest daughter of Emsley Valentine Starnes (1859-1920) and his wife Nancy Jane Dulin (1863-1918), of Mecklenburg County, NC. Her paternal grandparents were Dulin Stearns (c. 1836-1863) and his wife Rusha Elizabeth King (1837-1894), and her maternal grandparents were Milton Dulin (c. 1834-1863) and his wife Sophia Hannah Weddington (1831-?). Both grandfathers were Confederate soldiers, killed in the War.

Ida married Sidney Irwin or Irvin Quinn (1893-1935). He was a son of Robert Quinn and his wife Lula Hawkins. I am not sure when Ida and Sidney got married, but I believe they had two childen who died young, and then Nancy O. Quinn and Melvin Joseph Quinn (1921-2008, m. Jannette Cogdell).

Ida and Sidney were living in New York in 1917, back in Charlotte, NC by 1919, in Palm Beach, Florida in 1930, and back in Charlotte by 1935, when Sidney died. Ida was living in Elgin, SC in 1966, and she died in Holly Hill, Volusia Co., Florida in 1989. Sidney is buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Charlotte, and Ida is buried next to her son, daughter in law and granddaughter at the Blaney Baptist Church, Kershaw County, South Carolina.
