Hannah Elizabeth "Lizzie" Starnes was a daughter of Emsley Valentine Starnes (1850-1920) and his wife Nancy Jane Dulin (1863-1918). Her paternal grandparents were Dulin Stearns (c. 1836-1863) and his wife Rusha Elizabeth King (1837-1894), and her maternal grandparents were Milton Dulin (c. 1834-1863) and his wife Sophia Hannah Weddington (1831-?). Both her grandfathers were Confederate soldiers, killed in the War.

While the tombstone says she was born in 1889, I believe she was actually born in 1891 (per various census records). She married Benjamin Z. Turner (1888-1952) on 26 June 1920. He was a son of Henry Clay Turner (1846-1895) and his wife Etta Haywood (1855-1893) of Union County, NC.

Lizzie and Ben had one child, Lexie Merel Turner (1937-2005). They lived in Charlotte, NC.

Many thanks to my friend and cousin Susan I. Grills who created this memorial, and then kindly transferred it to me.
