LORETTO -- JOSEPH "PETE" RAYMOND MATTINGLY, 60, of Salem, Ind., formerly of St. Mary, died Friday in Salem. Funeral, noon, Monday, St. Charles Catholic Church, St. Mary. Visitation at Mattingly Funeral Home after 4 p.m. Sunday.

JOSEPH RAYMOND "PETE" MATTINGLY, 60, Salem, Ind., formerly of St. Mary, died at 9 p.m., April 29, 1994 at his residence. Mattingly was born Oct. 3, 1933 in St. Mary. He was an employee of Smith Cabinet Company in Salem, Ind. He was preceded in death by: his father, James Arthur Mattingly, on Nov. 15, 1981; his mother, Georgiana Mattingly, on April 15, 1966; a brother, Louis Bertrand "Bert" Mattingly, on Feb. 22, 1992; and a sister, Mary Della Wendle, on Feb. 4, 1993. Survivors include: his wife, Kathy Eliott Mattingly; two sons, William Joseph and Charles Alvin Mattingly, both of Louisville; one stepson, Kenneth Ray Eliott Jr. of Salem, Ind.; two daughters, Mrs. Paul "Teresa" Gronda and Mrs. Paul "Susan" Stevenson, both of Louisville; one stepdaughter, Sherry Lou Mosley of Sellersburg, Ind.; six sisters, Mary O. Smith of Galva, IL., Frances Stubbs and Rose Blair, both of Louisville, Mary Annette Fields of Fern Creek, Mrs. Jake "Ann" Janes of Springfield and Mrs. Harry "Laura Jean" Nalley of Loretto; two brothers, Francis Emanuel "Baz" Mattingly of St. Mary and George Sim Mattingly of Ocala, Fla.; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild. Funeral services were conducted at 12 noon, May 3, 1994, at St. Charles Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Vincent P. Dentinger officiated. Pallbearers were nephews, Jim and Robert Mattingly, William Blair, Steve Nalley, Jim Richards and Dean Smith. Prayer services were held at 7 p.m., May 2, 1994, at Mattingly Funeral Home, Loretto, which was in charge of the arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of South Indiana, 624 E. Market St., New Albany, IN. 47150.
