Peoria - George Sim Mattingly, 68, of 3450 SW 152nd Court, Ocala, Fla., formerly of Peoria, died at 11:37 P.M. Saturday, Nov. 20, 1999, at Estelle Hospice Care Center in Ocala. Born Jan. 27, 1931, in Lebanon, Ky., to James Arthur and Georgiana Mattingly, he married Lois Marie Groezinger on June 27, 1959, in Peoria.
She survives. Also surviving are two sons, James (and Suzanne) Mattingly of Peoria and Steven Hardine of Metamora; one daughter, Mrs. Allen (Becky) Schroeder of Charleston, S.C.; one granddaughter; one brother, Emmanuel of Lebanon, Ky.; and four sisters, Frances Stubbs and Rose Blair, both of Louisville, Ann Edelen of Springfield, Ky., and Laura Nalley of Loretto, Ky. He was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
A Caterpillar Inc. employee for 30 years, he retired as an inspector in 1982. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 974. He was a member of the Lake Tropicana (Fla.) volunteer fire department. He was a member of the American Motorcycle Association. He was an Army veteran. He attended St. Bernard's Catholic Church.
Services will be at 10 A.M. Saturday at Cumerford-Endsley-Diggle Funeral Home. The Rev. Phil Reushumbica will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Marion County Inc., P.O. Box 4860, Ocala, FL 34478-4860.
