Creek in the northern part of
Sevier County, Tennessee.
Moses Long was the first born.
He was a member of the Baptist
Church.
Moses married Rhoda Jane,'Atchley'
on April 14, 1819 at the
Alder Branch Baptist
Church in Sevier County,
Sevierville, Tennessee.
They were the parents of 11 children:
Pleasant Miller
Jane
Lydia
William Riley,
Albert D.
Thomas
Joshua
Mary Elizabeth
John 111
Eliza Anne
James Forrest
The couple made their home in Sevier
Co., for several years, later moving to
McMinn Co., near Riceville. His parents
and three of his brother's families also
moved to McMinn Co., Tn. The home he built
was a two story home and Moses had the latest
inventions of the era.
Moses Long was a hatter and a farmer.
The family joined the Double Springs Baptist
Church and gave liberally to the church and
school.
The home of Moses and Rhoda was always
open to the visiting preachers of the
church and the congration. Moses Long
was very generous and had a kind heart.
The family has a picture of Moses
and Rhoda's old homeplace in McMinn
County Tennessee. This branch of Long's
have written a book about their families,
starting w/John and Mary.
Also a picture of Moses, courtesy of the
family of his son, James Forrest Long,
first given to PAR and then shared with
other family members.
NOTE: James Forrest Long, Moses' youngest
son and child, wrote Mrs. Maud 'Long' Horn,
two lovely letters when she was compiling her
book. His father, Moses, was Maud's great
grandfather. James supported the book and
it's contents about the Long lineage:

Could it be that his grandfather was John
Long I, his brother was John Long II.
