Thomas Atchley and Lydia 'Richards.'
She was born in Sevier County, Tennessee.
Rhoda was the granddaughter of Joshua
Atchley and wife.
Rhoda married Moses Long at the
Alder Branch Baptist
Church in Sevierville,
Tennessee on April 14, 1819.
The couple lived in Sevier County for
a time, later moving to McMinn County,
Tennessee. They built a fine home and
raised their family. Moses' parents,
Rev.George W. Long 1 and Nancy
'Elizabeth' Long and also three of Moses'
brothers, moved to McMinn County.
Rhoda and Moses had the latest of
inventions at the time for their home.
Rhoda and Moses were the parents
of 11 chidlren in order.

Rhoda was a Baptist by faith. Moses
and Rhoda were members of the Salem
Baptist Church. (Double Springs)Moses
donated the land for the cemetery.
They were very active in the church
and host to many of the visiting
preachers and congration of the church.
NOTE: James Forrest, Rhoda's last child
and son was living when Mrs. Maud 'Long'
Horn was compliling her information for
her book. James wrote a lovely letter to
Maud with information for the book. Moses
and Rhoda was Maud's great grandparents.At
this time, James never disputed the fact
that John Long 1 and Mary 'Haynes' was
listed as his great grandparents.
