George Long II was the son of
Rev. George W. Long I and Nancy
Elizabeth 'Maples.'

He married Nancy 'Allen' abt. 1821 in
Sevier Co., Tennessee.
To them were born 6 children:
Elizabeth
Margaret 'Peggy'
John S.
William T.
Jacob
Mary

George was working out in the field on his farm, when he was bitten by a rattlesnake. The family tried to help him and they sent after his older brother, Moses. Moses lived on the farm next to George. Moses came to help George and tried to suck the poison out of the wound, but sadly George died from the snake bite in a short time.

There is a document which was recorded
7 March, 1842.
It states Moses Long was chosen Gdn. by
Elizabeth, Peggy, and John Long, over 14,
and app.Gdn. for Wm. T., Jacob B., and
Mary Long, under 14, minor orphans.
In Apr. 182. Report by same, Gdn. to minor
heirs who are Elizabeth, John, William,
Jacob, and Mary Long, and Peggy
Long/Ware: Widow Nancy Long.

George was thought to have died in 1839. In Rev. George W. Long's Will, it list Nancy as the widow of his son, George II. Nancy continued to live on the farm and raise her children.
Later, she moved and lived with their daughter Margaret 'Long' Ware and family. She
was in Arkansas where she died and is
buried. Nancy has a stone, she is listed
on the Findagrave site.

The family living in McMinn County at the
time, recorded George was laid to rest in
family Cemetery.
Later when his mother, Nancy 'Elizabeth'
died she was laid to rest beside her son,
George Long II. There are no markers for
them now, but at one time they all had
stones. The only member of the family that
has a stone at this time, is ggg grandfather,
Rev. George W. Long I, George's father.
(UPDATE) His stone is also now in ruin.

The record has been recorded by
the Tennessee Cemetery board. It
has a listing of the graves
in this Long cemetery.
